​From 1948 Lebanon hosts a large community of Palestinian refugees who escaped from their land after the establishment of the State of Israel. Even confined in the camps, members of the Palestinian community founded many non-governmental organisations of self help. The older and most important one is Beit Atfal Assomoud (House of The Resilient Children), an oasis of joy and peace within the situation of misery, decay and political deadlock in the refugee camps in Lebanon.
