The story takes place in a port controlled by Charlie the Greek and his criminal band. There are two things Charlie hates: drugs and queeers. But both are part of his life: he is madly in love with Joy who is a junkie, though he denies it even to himself. And regarding the queer issue, his right hand, Tony, has an amorous relationship with a transsexual who is part of a group of trans-prostitutes. Ignoring Charlie’s adamant orders, the transvestites work the streets around the port, with the help of Tony, who secretly supports them.
The plot begins with the arrival of a stranger, a young bum coming out of nowhere, wandering aimlessly around the port’s streets. He comes in contact with the transvestites and they immediately adopt him as “Charlie’s son”. This is the result of a “legend”, according to which Joy, while still a child herself in America, got pregnant by Charlie and gave birth to a little boy that Charlie, madly jealous, threw in the garbage.
Identity is the main theme of the film. Series of coincidences will make the boy’s identity believable, and as a consequence this identity will become real. Against his will, "the son" finds himself involved in a drug war and will heroically contribute in the cleaning up of pending issues between the rival gangs. In the end, his identity will be proven “freudically”, as he will kill his alleged father, and have sex with his alleged mother.
